City of Bones: The Mortal Instruments Series by Cassandra Clare Book Review

Rating: 5/5 stars          9e402e4d88e1260d7fcf7b3dba8386dd

Cassandra Clare is the author of this phenomenal series. This series is one of the most popular YA (young adult) series along with Harry Potter, The Hunger Games and Percy Jackson. If you’ve seen the movie or started watching the Shadowhunters series on tv or Netflix, then you would have already gotten an idea as to what the series is about.

The author book starts by telling us that all the stories that we’ve ever heard or read are true! She’s right. They are real, IF you have the Sight of course. We go along on a crazy adventure with Jace, Clary, Alec, Simon and Isabelle; battling all the creatures that go bump in the night that we were told don’t exist and the notorious villain, Valentine.

The story is centered around Clary Fray, a girl who only dreamt of being as good an artist as her mother. Clary was raised by her mother and had no memory of her deceased father.

It wasn’t until one day when her she began seeing strange things one day (and drawing them) that her world changed forever….. Clary discovers the world around her that she had never noticed was there before. Along the way, Clary and the gang discover some missing pieces of the past that were thought to be long forgotten.

(For anyone interested in this series I really would insist you read the books or at least the first one before watching the movie or the series it is well worth it)

Throughout the book we see relationships are formed and others are put to the test. The relationships between family and friends; old and new; but the shipping that happened in this book from Jace and Alec, Isabelle and Simon, low key Magnus and Alec, Simon and Clary and Jace and Clary just made it that more interesting.

Jace with his witty sarcastic comments made this book for me, I will love him forever for that!

“In the future Clarissa, it might be wise to mention that you already have a man in your bed, to avoid such tedious situations” Jace Wayland

Without a doubt one of the memorable quotes from this book and it had me in tears. You can always rely on Jace to give some comic relief in any situation. If you love sarcastic characters you’re fully covered with Jace around! There are a ton of curveballs our heroes get thrown at them, like Simon turning into a rat at the party or sneaking into vampire territory, just to name a few without spoiling anything.

My favorite part over all has to be the scene with the midnight flower, it has to be one sweetest things a guy has ever done for some one (especially someone they just met no less).  Even a player can be a big softy at heart.

This book is filled with such amazing characters and moments that I think anyone can love or connect to. Like the way Magnus low key flirting with Alec (I loved it !). In that moment, he said what every fangirl out there wished they could say to their favorite male character. The adults in this story are just as much of a crazy bunch between the villain, the artist and  the lone wolf (pun intended) there just doesn’t seem to be a dull moment.

If you haven’t read this series yet WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!?!?!! the Shadowhunter world is waiting for you and you won’t regret reading this book. It’s an amazing read and it does live up to the hype.

The book can be bought; on  Amazon, Barnes and Nobles, Book – A -Million and most places where books and e-books are sold. Also as of early January 2017, the graphic novel version! of this book will be available for sale. It’s also apart of my most anticipated book list for this year if you want to check that out. My book talk is soon to come.

Till next time loves xoxo

*DISCLAIMER* I did purchase this book with my own money for my personal library.
